After proudly gaining B Corp certification by meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, Progress Packaging turned to long-term brand collaborators Design Project to deliver a website design and online marketing to highlight the value of being part of this highly influential global movement and promote the benefits it delivers for their consumers.

Brand strategy:

Design Project took the Progress brand positioning ‘Packaging Partners’ that was developed previously as part of their rebrand and focussed on it as the key storytelling mechanic to reinforce their value as collaborative production specialists. The brand positioning itself brings purpose and collaboration to the fore and distills the Progress belief that ‘true partnerships always bring out the best in each other’.

Website design:

Taking aspects of packaging formats and production processes, and visually juxtaposing different combinations together, is the key underlying principle of this custom website design. By placing different aspects side-by-side (in partnership), it visually articulates the strategy of their positioning and automatically delivers a structural aesthetic to the user interface design through the 50/50 split of the screen.

UI and UX design:

As part of the web development, and to draw attention the transformative approach to packaging taken by Progress, UX design helps to punctuate user choices and actions throughout the website. Roll-over button behaviour is infused with transformational energy to propel site visitors to their chosen subject with efficiency. The user interface design also evolves the core brand colours to include muted tones which emphasise different sections of the website. The bold uppercase headlines in the brand typeface deliver a typographic hierarchy that echoes the Progress brand identity.

Custom branding icons:

Design Project also developed a set of custom branding icons which reflect the spirit of the ‘arrow’ symbol in the Progress logo. These bold branding icons help to visually articulate and accent both the brand values of the organisation and key aspects of their influential environmental principles.

In alignment with the forward-thinking approach Progress take to packaging, Design Project introduced an ‘Insights’ section to the website to give the company a prominent platform to showcase innovation and leadership-driven aspects of their work. The brand tone of voice for this section, and used throughout the website, is deliberately straight-forward and heart-felt in order to humanise information that could otherwise be production-heavy and terminology focussed.

Content strategy for social media:

Social media marketing is a key aspect in promoting the Progress brand and the benefits that their services deliver for their design-led clients. Design Project coordinate, manage and create the brand’s social media marketing through various channels, which are driven from content also developed for their website. Working across multiple platforms gives the opportunity to deliver social media content creation that can be utilised in different forms across their marketing channels.

Online email marketing:

To coordinate with their content strategy for social media, Design Project also manage and deliver online email marketing campaigns for Progress. Combining on-screen graphics, animations, video and photography with an inspiring brand tone of voice, these online marketing campaigns are also posted on social media and the company’s website where more extensive content is developed to further enrich communication, encourage interaction and generate enquiries.

SEO and website performance:

The website, SEO management and online marketing delivered by Design Project demonstrates ambition and purpose which resonates with the audience that Progress seek to attract.
